Team/Role Overview
The Business Unit Manager is a senior management-level position who provides leadership, coordination and support for executing growth, efficiency and control strategies, and day-to-day activities, of the FX Sales and Trading Teams.
This role requires working closely with management to support business goals, and lead cross functional teams including Product Management, Client Facilitation, Legal, Credit Risk Management, Compliance, Operations and Technology.
The responsibilities of the function can be broken down into 4 components:
Financials and performance metrics reporting
Governance, Controls, Conduct and Compliance
Strategic development of the business and product
Tactical support of the business as required on a day-to-day basis
The candidate must be able to work effectively in a cross-functional environment without close supervision, and with colleagues who may not be in the same geographic location. In addition, the candidate must have excellent verbal and written communications as well as presentation skills.
What you’ll do
Business Administration
Problem-solving mindset capable of collaboration, building consensus, and completing implementation
Liaise with support functions, building relationships with credit risk, market risk, operations, finance and technology to assist in delivering on business strategy
Create management presentations for desk heads and senior management teams
Responsible for ad-hoc Business Management tasks that support the activities of the business including expense management, headcount planning, and financial reporting
Participate in the control framework for the wider business including Managers’ Control Assessment (MCA) testing, operational loss processes, investigating, developing and driving corrective actions
Business Governance
Liaise with support functions, building relationships with credit risk, market risk, operations, finance and technology to assist in delivering on business strategy
Create management presentations for desk heads and senior management teams
Responsible for ad-hoc Business Management tasks that support the activities of the business including expense management, headcount planning, and financial reporting
Participate in the control framework for the wider business including Managers’ Control Assessment (MCA) testing, operational loss processes, investigating, developing and driving corrective actions
Control & Regulatory Focus
Ensure corrective actions are implemented for control related issues across the spectrum of control functions with a goal of driving a robust, efficient and scalable business model for the supported desks.
Business Development & Project Management
Lead and participate in business-driven projects across functions, driving implementation and working closely with relevant seniors
Assist desk heads with strategy & projects – for example technology change, client tiers, reference data, etc.
Provide input into technology change, process, and control framework enhancements.
What we’ll need from you

Ability to manage and prioritize effectively and resolve conflicting priorities.

Ability to perform effectively under pressure, with strong problem-solving skills and a high level of self-direction
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment with colleagues who are not based in the same location.
High level of computer literacy especially with Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint, including the ability to code basic macros in Excel.
