Job Description Summary

The System Engineering Manager leads the system function (system design, verification, service, certification) in the IGS Beijing Engineering team. Responsible for leading the system team through the product development lifecycle while meeting quality, regulatory compliance, performance, cost and business targets. In addition, will drive talent development and engagement for the team, as well as partner with other functional leaders to ensure a high-performance environment within the team.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Setting the strategy and direction of the system engineering function and driving new design and continuous improvement of systems.

  • Work with stakeholders to understand their needs and to capture system requirements, and lead them on system definition and scoping, on full system lifecycle development.

  • The leader delivers to the needs across ATD, NPI, Installed Base, and VCP programs thru the team to create a positive business impact.

  • Functional leadership of the team, including recruitment, talent development, coaching and mentoring. Identify the competencies required to recruit & develop a high-performing engineering team with deep functional expertise.

  • Partner with Project / program leadership to make resource assignments and drives the execution on deliverables owned by the team.

  • Work closely with Beijing and Global functional managers to share best practices and standardize op mechs, and technology adoption.

  • Drive a culture that ensures outstanding compliance and adherence to product quality in all areas of the GEHC Quality Management System.

  • Ensure the product design and design changes are compliant to QMS and regulatory requirements.

  • Supporting existing products within Manufacturing, Sourcing, Service and Supplier Quality.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.

  • 10 - 20 years progressive engineering work experience.

  • Demonstrated Expertise in Systems Engineering/Systems Thinking or relevant discipline and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, at various levels of the organization.

  • Proven track record of innovation mindset, coaching and mentoring, grooming, and developing talents.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and deliver in a global team.

  • Understanding of Cross Functional perspectives and ability to influence and deliver right solutions.

  • Proven communication, coaching and interpersonal skills, at all levels of the organization. Able to energize and inspire.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes. Ability to manage priority tradeoffs in shared resources to optimize program deliveries.

  • Demonstrated engineering knowledge, project scheduling, and business planning processes, having experience with the full product life-cycle design.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical device design controls requirements

  • Team player able to work effectively and influence peers and global team members.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Masters or PhD Degree in Engineering or equivalent (defined as 10 years progressive experience within engineering, science, or related field)

  • 3+ years experience for leading system related design team or projects

  • Vascular and large medical device development experience

  • Business Planning: Strategic planner and thinker with ability to drive change.

  • Sound technical and domain experience in at least one functional technology area for system or electrical design

  • Excellent influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiative. Proven ability to work cross-functionally.

  • Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues. Responsive and willing to take ownership of issues and drive solutions.

  • Fluent oral English communication.
