Job Summary:

  • Implement and sustain a positive health, safety and environmental culture through the application of the management systems framework in site(s) with low complexity. This includes establishing the short term and long-term strategic plan for the site to foster continual health, safety and environmental

  • Improvement, leading programs, policies and assessments and monitoring performance to ensure compliance with Cummins internal requirements, applicable health, safety and environmental regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Builds strong relationships across functions to ensure the organization understands their roles and responsibilities and are committed to driving a positive health, safety and environmental culture.

  • Ensures employees are consulted and given the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures.

  • Leads hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify strategic risk improvement opportunities and gaps in health, safety and environmental compliance obligations.

  • Manages planning actions to set targets and objectives for the site and supervises actions through completion.

  • Leads an effective support model throughout the site through training, skills development and internal communications. Develops and maintains support content ensuring it is up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations.

  • Interfaces with external regulatory bodies as required with the support of the legal department. Leads daily health, safety and environmental operations within the site(s) providing support to solve issues, including but not limited to health, safety and environmental compliance, capital and resource management, risk reduction, incident investigation, management of change, contractor safety, emergency preparedness and response, pollution prevention and environmental sustainability.

  • Drives improvements to health, safety and environmental performance metrics using a risk-based and data-driven approach. Adheres to Cummins internal reporting requirements through approved systems. Evaluates site health, safety and environmental data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to develop an improvement plan.

  • Leads site(s) Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems review annually in conformance with Cummins internal requirements. Leads work cross-functionally as required to resolve work-related incidents, non-compliances, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions driving continual improvement within the site(s).

  • Coaches and develops direct reports and/or cross-functional teams based on stakeholder feedback, observations and succession plan needs.

  • Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional health, safety and environmental organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.

  • Risk Assessment - Evaluates hazards within the work environment by applying hazard identification and risk assessment techniques to analyze and prioritize risk, enabling a selection of control measures that reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.

  • Work Related Injury and Illness Management - Communicates and documents work related injuries or illnesses through application of Cummins reporting guidelines and relevant regulations to classify and manage the event and its consequences as well as achieve regulatory compliance; cares for the affected employees by facilitating clinical treatment practices and applying case management processes to restore the employee to his/her normal condition.

  • College, university, or equivalent degree required. Health, Safety and/or Environmental degree preferred. Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred. Experience:

  • Intermediate level of experience required, including experience in management of health, safety and environmental ISO Standards required. Minimal management experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Coordinate and organize local safety team of Mining/O&G and Rail/Marine/Genset/AE etc. to manage related field service risks and prevent incidents.

  • Coordinate and organize HSE trainings and communications for field service technicians.

  • Coordinate and organize occupational health monitoring and examinations, etc.

  • Coordinate and organize field service HSE supervision and inspection and follow up on the corrective actions of all findings.

  • Coordinate and organize ergonomics & tooling improvement

  • Coordinate and organize the emergency response, investigation and handling of all field service related incidents.

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of DBU HSE key processes and projects.
