IQVIA Associate Principal, Strategic Program Expansion (APAC & Japan), PCS in Beijing, China

Overview

IQVIA provides scientific services spanning clinical trials, real world evidence, preference research, and consulting in all areas of the medical product lifecycle. The Patient Centered Solutions (PCS) team leads the industry in generating data to ensure that the patient voice is incorporated into the development and commercialization of medication and other drug/non-drug interventions. We focus on understanding and meeting the needs of our clients – mostly life science/pharmaceutical companies – through the application of broad consulting expertise and technical scientific knowledge to design scientifically rigorous research. This research is broad and includes qualitative (e.g., interviews, focus groups), quantitative (e.g., clinical outcome assessments [COAs]/patient-reported outcomes [PROS], preference research) and passive (e.g., digital health technology tools) approaches to understand patient, caregiver and healthcare professional experiences and expectations of disease and treatment.

IQVIA PCS has grown to be the largest Patient Experience Data (PED) expert team in the industry with over 400 dedicated staff, and offerings spanning strategic consulting, scientific services through to COA licensing and technology. The business has matured and continues to show strong growth in North America and Europe. Customers in the Asia Pacific and Japan regions have been served opportunistically or when we work with their regional headquarters in US and Europe. The Associate Principal Strategic Program expansion (APAC & Japan) will work with senior leadership in PCS, Asia and Japan to develop and execute the expansion of PCS into these regions. Reporting to, and taking strategic guidance and direction from the VP Global SSR (strategic scientific research), this role will support the development and coordination of the overall business plan including: taking and adapting as needed PCS offerings to market in Asia; defining the delivery model; and informing the planning for headcount and capability building. This role will directly inform and impact the strategy and its execution for PCS growth in APAC and Japan, and offers a unique opportunity to engage with IQVIA senior leaders across the globe whilst developing business skills and learning about the field of PED and Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs). The role will focus first on the Strategic & Scientific Research (SSR) business line of PCS, but will also link into the growth plans for the other global PCS business lines (Instrument licensing and implementations services) to maintain a global plan for the expansion. Dependent on the experience and training of the candidate, the role will support proposal development and project delivery with some billable utilization by the end of the first 12 months in role.

This role is envisaged to be an 18-24 month engagement thereafter with the opportunity to continue with a leadership role in the PCS APAC business (depending on location of the individual), other area of global PCS or global RWS. • Design and lead workstreams to inform the expansion strategy and tactics, for example, landscape and market analysis to identify customer needs, customer targeting, and marketing and promotion planning, working in close collaboration with resources in APAC and Japan

  • Design and lead selected build workstreams which could include, for example, capability mapping the existing APAC and Japan organisations for conducting PCS SSR work, and designing the future delivery model

  • Adapt GBU and US/EMEA RBU processes for triaging client enquiries and RFPs from APAC and Japan to receive PCS expert support and leadership; and support local implementation of these processes

  • Assist in creating project communications and a cadence of status reports for senior leaders and executives in global RWS, APAC and Japan. Includes developing slide decks, written communications, soliciting input from other workstream leads, and establishing a regular reporting cadence.

  • Contribute to cross-business line initiatives that relate to APAC and Japan, for example, to understand data privacy regulations in key markets

  • Develop a broad knowledge of PED and how it addresses client needs for evidence generation and dissemination, regulatory and market access strategy

  • Line manage 3-4 junior consultants in the PCS team who provide delivery capacity for SSR projects in APAC and Japan

  • As the business opportunities in the regions develop, lead or contribute to proposals; act as Engagement Lead to deliver selected projects
