Job Title: Process Controls Engineer
Job Description
As a Process Controls Engineer, you will play a vital role in refining project scope and requirements, defining software and hardware architecture, and developing detailed functional design specifications. You will configure DCS, OPC, PLC, and SCADA components, review control panel wiring diagrams, and perform factory acceptance testing of hardware and software. Additionally, you will assist with the development of project P&ID’s, operating procedures, and training manuals, participate in hazard review processes, and commission complete control systems. Your role will also involve plant commissioning support, piping and flow sheet checking, performance tests, troubleshooting, validation, and plant start-up, including domestic and international travel.
Responsibilities
Communicate with project team to refine project scope and requirements.
Define software and hardware architecture requirements.
Develop detailed functional design specifications.
Configure DCS, OPC, PLC, and SCADA components.
Review control panel wiring diagrams.
Perform factory acceptance testing of hardware and software.
Assist with the development of project P&ID’s and operating procedures/training manuals.
Participate in hazard review processes and other safety evaluations.
Commission complete control systems.
Provide plant commissioning support, including piping and flow sheet checking, performance tests, troubleshooting, validation, and start-up.
Travel to domestic and international locations for project support.
Essential Skills
7+ years of Controls Engineering experience for utility or industrial power plants.
Proficiency in PLC programming, automation, Siemens control, HMI, and electrical systems.
Experience with Siemens PCS 7.
Skilled in configuring SCADA systems.
Strong troubleshooting capabilities.
Knowledge of DCS, P&ID, and piping.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
BS in Chemical Engineering or other engineering majors with applicable experience.
5+ years of experience in new plant engineering with an emphasis on plant operations, startups, and safety.
Experience in air separation, specialty gases, or petrochemical industries is a plus.
Experience with Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell Automation, Yokogawa, ABB, or Honeywell is a plus.
Skilled in DCS, PLC, and HMI programming.
Experience interfacing control systems to OPC Server applications.
Knowledge of general purpose OPC Server applications from Matrikon or OSI PI.
Experience integrating control systems with MES, Data Historians, ERP, and other data systems.
Primary responsibility for delivering plant control systems on time.
Working knowledge of electrical design and panel design.
Working knowledge of process instrumentation and instrument application.
Experience specifying and ordering control system components.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
