Financial Reporting & Research Specialist
Position Summary:
Responsible for multiple facets of the Bank’s financial reporting, budgeting and analysis. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, dealing with the Bank’s external auditors, handling GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements (including COSO and SOX), researching GAAP accounting issues related to new products and services, interest rate and loan level swap accounting and SBA lending accounting. Assist with various tax and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Primary liaison responsibility with the Bank’s external auditors to ensure the timely completion of their annual financial audit. Ongoing coordination of external audit requests throughout the year. This includes: (1) primary responsibility for annual audit confirmations (in Q3 and Q4), and (2) assisting Crowe with policing responses outstanding for other PGB departments.
Completion of the annual Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) Principals within the Wolfpac Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) controls module.
Distributing and managing the quarterly SOX Interim Certifications and quarterly SOX Control Assessments in WolfPac.
Managing the quarterly income tax provision and annual tax return work performed by a third-party vendor for the Bank and all subsidiaries. This includes preparation of supporting schedules and analysis as requested by said vendor.
Periodic filing and payment of various state taxes owed, as prepared by the Bank’s third-party tax vendor.
Researching GAAP and RAP accounting issues related to new products and services that are being considered.
Interest Rate and Loan Level Swap Accounting – quarterly valuation analysis of swap positions and posting of quarterly MTM adjustment entries. Preparation of quarterly swap-related disclosures for 10-Q/10-K reporting and Call Reporting and all supporting documentation.
Quarterly 10-Q / 10-K Disclosures related to SBA lending. This includes monitoring SBA loan closings to ensure of proper reporting classification (i.e., Held for Sale). Monthly and quarterly entries related to the valuation analysis of the SBA loan portfolio.
Monitoring all technical accounting guidance and requirements under the Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) methodology for estimating the Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL).
Preparation of the annual Goodwill analysis.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Three to five years of Public Accounting experience, including working towards the completion of the CPA certification.
One to three years of prior banking experience.
Strong GAAP and RAP accounting knowledge, including the ability to research issues.
Strong analytical skills.
Must be an organized, accurate, reliable and detail minded individual.
Must have good oral and written communications skills, including the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in Excel is required.
