Department Summary:

MITRE’s Responsive Operational Planning Department in the Air Operations Division of the Air & Space Forces Center helps the Air Force provide the warfighter with Command and Control (C2) capabilities to gain a competitive edge in air superiority against peer adversaries. Their mission is to enable the Air Force to deliver effective C2 capabilities through continuous delivery, agile development, and DevSecOps.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and integration of complex systems for Air Force C2 capabilities.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project alignment and success.

  • Implement and oversee agile and DevSecOps methodologies to improve system delivery.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.

  • Identify and resolve system engineering challenges and technical issues.

  • Communicate project progress and technical insights to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Strong background in systems engineering and integration.

  • Experience with agile development and DevSecOps practices.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with military or Air Force C2 systems.

  • Knowledge of cloud computing and cybersecurity.

  • Advanced degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Proven leadership experience in technical environments.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
