Department Summary:

MITRE's Nuclear Weapons and C2 Platforms Department is seeking an Associate Communications Engineer to provide expertise and support to the most critical challenges our sponsors and their missions face. We provide technical guidance through rigorous modeling, simulation, and analytical methods to enhance program decision making and risk management. Our main sponsors possess the policy, warfighting, organizational, and program responsibilities within the Air Force Nuclear Enterprise.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Apply technical experience and knowledge to ensure delivery of safe, reliable, and effective weapon system.

  • Understand our Air Force Nuclear Enterprise sponsors needs and help them recognize and solve their toughest technical problems.

  • Lead and contribute to technical products that enable data-driven decisions and result in impactful mission outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related STEM field; or 3 years and Master’s degree, or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of networks, network protocols, and related technology.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic and collaborative team environment

  • Eligibility to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional - (ISC)2 International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium.

  • Extensive in-depth, practical, and technical knowledge of network technology (OSI layer 1 to 7)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills for interaction with sponsors, project leaders, team members, and other government agencies.

  • Expertise in cybersecurity methods, technology, and best practices

  • Skilled in programming methods and languages such as Python and C++.

  • Possess an active DoD top-secret clearance.
