The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,500.00 in our lowest geographic market to $222,900.00 in our highest geographic market. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's location, qualifications, skills and experience.

Software Engineer III – Consumer Order Management

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As a key member of the Consumer Order Management team within GaME (Geographies and Marketplace Experiences), the Software Engineer III will join a team of engineers, architects, product managers and program managers to envision and deliver innovative, highly scalable, backend solutions that enable Nike’s iconic products and services to reach millions of consumers worldwide.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The successful candidate is a proven software engineer who takes ownership of defined technical problems to drive results, has excellent communication and teamwork skills, thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, and challenges conventional thinking.

Experience & Skills:

  • A minimum of 5+ years’ professional experience designing, developing, and testing custom software solutions using languages such as Java, Node.js, Python or similar.

  • 3+ years hands-on experience using Java 8 or higher

  • 3+ years’ proven experience working in a distributed, cloud-based environment (AWS preferred) with services such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, SNS, Elasticsearch, API Gateway, and Lambda.

  • 3+ years’ experience in microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and RESTful APIs.

  • Strong proficiency with the Spring framework and Spring Boot.

  • Hands-on expertise with SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring data storage solutions meet security, reliability and performance benchmarks.

  • Proven ability to lead technical designs, estimate effort, and deliver high quality, scalable solutions.

  • Proficient with DevOps practices, modern build strategies and test automation.

  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECS or EKS.

  • Proficient with CICD tools (i.e. Jenkins, CircleCI), infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform, and version control tools (i.e. GIT, Bitbucket).

  • Experience with performance monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana and SignalFx.

  • Comfortable working with globally distributed and diverse teams and managing multiple priorities at once.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

  • Experience in e-commerce or supply chain systems is preferred.

  • Familiarity with Apache Kafka and Apache Camel are a plus.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

With teammates around the globe, you’ll be joining a global organization working to solve engineering problems at scale. Focus area is the Consumer Order Management domain, where you will weave together the processes, people, systems and partners needed to deliver a premium post-purchase consumer experience. You will help unlock seamless omni-channel experiences by collaborating with architects and engineers in the design and development of secure, resilient and architecturally sound backend services in a continuous delivery model on the Nike cloud platform.

Other Core Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to build highly scalable software solutions aligned with business and technical goals.

  • Partner with Product Managers to drive clarity of requirements, define solution options, provide estimates of effort and risk, and evaluate technical feasibility.

  • Ensure quality assurance standards are met by writing unit tests, integration tests, participating in chaos testing, and maintaining high code quality standards.

  • Optimize performance of cloud-based distributed systems to support high transaction volumes and complex workflows. Identify and fix performance bottlenecks across the stack, ensuring high availability and responsiveness.

  • Develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-based distributed systems aligned with Global Technology standards and best practices.

  • Lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and maintain automated CICD pipelines and ensure seamless deployment processes.

  • Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, daily standups, and backlog grooming.
