Job Summary
Battelle’s Trust and Assurance Cyber Analytics Department in Beavercreek/Dayton, Ohio is seeking a Cyber Research Engineer III to join our multi-disciplinary team, bringing together the brightest minds ranging from Physics to Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering. The team works to develop, evaluate, and test unique physical and embedded security solutions for our government. As a Cyber Research Engineer at Battelle you will have the opportunity to hone your research and development skills to apply new techniques to existing hardware security problems. Daily activities include writing code for hardware analysis, researching cutting edge analysis techniques, and creating cross-disciplinary techniques in close collaboration with other engineers and scientists.
Responsibilities
Apply cybersecurity analysis skills to hardware security designs
Analyze cryptographic implementations for hardware security
Research related fields in the open-source and apply techniques to hardware security research
Improve existing techniques to solve hardware security problems
Identify and articulate strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions, and problem approaches during technical discussions.
Prioritize and complete structured assignments with mentoring from senior staff. May seek guidance in subsequent tasking.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or similar) with 8 years of experience or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of educations and/or experience in a related field
Interest in one or more of the following areas:
Cybersecurity Exploitation
Vulnerability Analysis
Formal Methods
Algebra or Number Theory
Cryptology
Post-Quantum Cryptography
Discrete Mathematics, especially Graph Theory
Working knowledge of Python or other scripting languages
Excitement about learning new technical subject areas and curiosity about cyber security problems.
Must be a US citizen and possess a current Top-Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with microelectronic design workflow
Experience in vulnerability analysis for either software or hardware
Understanding of VHDL and/or Verilog hardware description languages.
