Vail Resorts Health & Safety Senior Specialist in Beaver Creek, Colorado

Job Summary:

The Senior Specialist of Health and Safety will support all aspects of Health and Safety at Beaver Creek. This position will work closely with Health and Safety leadership, resort operations, and corporate leadership to implement and sustain a Health and Safety culture that achieves world class safety performance. This position will work and collaborate with external partners, community leaders, and regulators in supporting the resort as well as the company’s core value of Be Safe.

Job Specifications:

  • Outlet: Beaver Creek

  • The budgeted range starts at $55,000- $71,132. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience

  • Schedule & Availability: Full Time / Year Round

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the company’s Health and Safety strategy to achieve world class Health and Safety performance. Responsible for the execution of:

  • Safety Trainings

  • Audits and Assessments

  • Resort Safety Programs and Compliance

  • Advising and coaching front line leaders on Health and Safety initiatives

  • Be an unbiased leader and voice for resort leadership so they understand the risks and opportunities to drive, improve, and maintain superior safety performance.

  • Develop an understanding of the core business needs and historic/current/predictive safety metrics to adjust safety strategy accordingly.

  • Address compliance and regulatory safety, risk management trends, and regulatory focus areas as directed by the Manager.

  • Engage, as required, with local, state, and federal officials as necessary to support Health and Safety Compliance and best practices.

  • Support the Manager of Health and Safety and serve in their absence.

  • Communicate with a variety of stakeholders in a matrix environment.

  • Execute projects as assigned.

  • Own your self-development on the Health and Safety Team.

  • This position requires 30-50% travel around the resort.

  • Other duties or tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Health & Safety.

  • 1-3 years’ experience working in Health and Safety, or related field, or equivalent operations experience with safety responsibilities.

  • Strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal and influence skills; including public speaking.

  • Creative thinking and ability to seek innovative solutions to complex problems.

  • Experience leading and implementing change.

  • Passion for the outdoors.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Advanced level skier or snowboarder – Preferred.

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $55,000- $71,132. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
