Job Title: Non-Technical Project Planner – Capital Project Engineer/Manager

Location: Memphis, TN

Work Schedule: 9/80

Relocation: Available for the right candidate

Job Summary: The Non-Technical Project Planner will manage all aspects of capital projects from conception to completion, including AFE development, budgeting, engineering, construction, and scheduling. Utilizing the Valero PDEP Project Development and Execution Process protocols, the role ensures proper project progression, cost control, and adherence to HSE guidelines. This position requires a mechanical or process engineering degree and extensive experience in project management within refinery or heavy industrial plant environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Adhere to site safety rules, focusing on Life-Saving Rules. Ensure safety standards are incorporated into design and execution, managing MOC processes and ensuring applicable risk reviews and PSSRs are completed.

  • Environmental Compliance: Collaborate with the Environmental Engineering group to ensure all projects meet relevant rules and policies.

  • Reliability: Engage refinery reliability engineers in the design and quality check processes to ensure reliable design.

  • Productivity: Maintain high personal productivity and set expectations for contractor productivity, addressing any issues promptly.

  • Work Quality: Continuously review project designs, ensuring best engineering practices are upheld, and monitor field construction for adherence to design packages.

  • Communication: Provide accurate and timely communication with project team members, Refinery Management, and other stakeholders, using both formal and informal tools.

  • Budget Performance: Develop accurate project estimates and use PPM and SAP tools to monitor and maintain budgets, including managing change orders.

  • Schedule Performance: Help develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and communicating any impacts in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering.

  • 8-10 years of experience as a Project Manager/Engineer, with at least 5 years in a refinery or heavy industrial plant environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, SAP, and scheduling software (P6).

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Highly motivated, with the ability to work well with other disciplines.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
