Job Description

Job Summary: Fluor is looking for a hardworking, motivated person to fill a pipe welder position within our team of craft professionals. The successful candidate will have a focus on continued development of the skills required to be a top tier professional tradesperson.

The team is looking for a combination skill set of a pipe fitter and a welder to support maintenance and construction work on site, full time for our client. The primary welding responsibilities of this role will be revolving around the use of the GTAW welding process, 6G position, on stainless steel piping. Secondary welding responsibilities SMAW or GTAW on carbon steel piping. Other welding work will revolve around repairs to stainless, aluminum, and carbon components from plant machinery. The ideal candidate will be able to understand P&ID’s, isometrics, and general mechanical arrangement drawings. The candidate is preferred to be able to field measure to create isometrics and to execute fabrication of simple to medium complexity piping jobs.

General metal fabrication shop experience is necessary. Machining experience is preferred. General mechanical skills are preferred. Basic rigging knowledge is required.

The role will also assist electricians, millwrights, and carpenters with their regular work duties.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Welding Certifications from a recognized trade school are preferred.

• Minimum three years knowledge and experience with industrial welding on piping systems.

Preferred Skills:

• R-stamp and pressure vessel welding experience.

• Sanitary piping system experience.

• General knowledge of industrial construction principles

• Advanced knowledge of OSHA workplace safety rules and requirements for industrial construction

• Intermediate understanding of:

o Electrical power systems,

o Mechanical systems such as manufacturing machines, pumps, piping, pneumatics

o Carpentry, civil, and concrete practices

• Experience operating powered pallet trucks

• Strong mathematical skills which include algebra, geometry and trigonometry.

Language Skills:

• Ability to fluently speak and comprehend verbal instructions in the English language.

• Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos in the English language.

• Ability to write correspondence in the English language.

• Bi-lingual or multi-lingual verbal and written communication abilities are a benefit.
