Job Summary

Join our Public Works team as a Heavy Equipment Specialist focused on brush pick-up services, helping keep our community clean and beautiful. In this role, you'll operate specialized equipment to collect and manage debris efficiently, ensuring timely and safe removal. If you have a passion for keeping public spaces in top shape and working with heavy machinery, we'd love to have you on board!

The Heavy Equipment Specialist I operates all necessary equipment in order to dispose of brush.

Duties

  • Drives and operates a stake-bed truck, and a hydraulic picker.

  • Loads brush and picks up junk with various equipment.

  • Performs personnel related duties including training and coaching.

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).

  • Valid State of Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver’s License, or must be obtained within six months of date in position.

  • One year related experience.

    Preferred:

  • Demonstrated prior supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to operate and maintain all types of equipment used in solid waste collection. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public.
