The Division of Administration/Office of Group Benefits has a vacancy.
This vacancy will be filled by new hire or by promotion of a current permanent status classified employee. A permanent status employee may be required to serve a new probationary period in lieu of promotion.

This vacancy participates in a career progression group and may be filled from this recruitment as a Group Benefits Analyst 1 (AS-611), Group Benefits Analyst 2 (AS-612), or Group Benefits Analyst 3 (AS-614) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum salary for the Group Benefits Analyst 3 is $ 75,026 . This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) as follows:
If filled as a Group Benefits Analyst 1, the SER is $1,243.20 biweekly.
If filled as a Group Benefits Analyst 2, the SER is $1,330.40 biweekly.
If filled as a Group Benefits Analyst 3, the SER is $1,523.20 biweekly.
This position also has retention pay of $1.00 per hour for each hour worked.
A criminal history check may be conducted on all new hires as well as employees changing positions including promotions, demotions, details, reassignments and transfers. Also, prospective employees may be subject to pre-employment drug testing. New hires will be subject to employment eligibility verification via the federal government's E-verify system.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in employee benefits, health services, health insurance claims processing, or contracts; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Group Benefits Analyst 2 by the absence of experienced level work in health insurance responsibilities and related programs.
Examples of Work
Reviews individual claim files to obtain historical information and claim status, to answer questions regarding the disposition of the claim, and to determine possible discrepancies.
Assists in conducting annual enrollment and orientation sessions which may involve statewide travel.
Reviews medical records to determine eligibility with respect to pre-existing condition limitations.
Researches and corrects possible errors pointed out by plan members, the Claims Audit Section, or staff determinations.
Determines eligibility and updates the plan member record to ensure that claims are paid based upon the most current and accurate eligibility data.
Prepares material related to provider matters requested by Management in order to inform network providers on policies and procedures relating to plan member benefits.
