This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS/HELP PROGRAM). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. These duties involve responsibility for providing intensive individual and group therapy for patients with emotional, social and related problems at the County Mental Health Clinic. The Mental Health Clinical Therapist also serves as a member of the clinic team working with other staff members in treating, diagnosing and planning treatment for patients. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Clinical Services Director or his/her designee who may define and limit the work to be performed. Employees of this class also provide consultation services to other community agencies to assist them in understanding and dealing with individual cases. Does related work, as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a Masters Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Art Therapy* (or related field such as Community Counseling). SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT AND CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT: Possession of a valid NYS drivers license.
