The Detention Officer is responsible to ensure the safety and security of detainees in custody, acting in accordance with the highest ethical standards at all times, and ensuring a spirit of fairness and integrity in the on-going execution of their duties. ualifications Speak, read, write, and understand English. Must be at least 21 years of age and a US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Must have the ability to pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record) to obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance. Must be able to pass all pre-employment and random drug tests. Must be able to pass a medical examination and meet health requirements. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Ability to greet and deal tactfully and professionally with the general public. Must be willing to work shift hours to include, evening, nights, weekends and holidays. Must attend and pass defensive tactics training. Capability of following and interpreting/understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and are able to compose written and oral reports. Ability to exercise good judgment: courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities Ability to maintain poise and self-control during potential emergencies and unexpected situations that may involve mental and physical stress such as disturbances, altercations, fires, and building evacuations. Ability to concisely and accurately prepare and write narratives of incidents and other written reports. Must be able to exercises judgment and use discretion in dealing with first response to any and all situations. Must have the ability to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles, with a cross-cultural perspective. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in methods and techniques of securing and controlling detainees by following required training, policy and procedure. Must maintain proficiency with any special equipment used for your position. Must maintain a professional personal appearance, calm demeanor, and discretion with confidential information. Must possess a high degree of integrity, accountability. Must adhere to the American Correctional Association and DHS ICE National Detention Standards at all times. This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing as part of a drug-free workplace policy, including marijuana usage. Desired Qualifications:

Bilingual. Associate or Bachelor level degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Pay and Benefits:

$17.72 during training period and $35.97 after training period. Physical Demands:

Must maintain physical fitness standards and must be able to pass and maintain required physical testing requirements and standards which includes: Must be able to lift heavy object up to 50lbs frequently and up to 70lbs occasionally. Must be able to push a wheelchair bound individual weighing up to 300 lbs and helping individual in and out of chair. Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, twisting, reaching overhead and climb stairs, ladders and slopes periodically. Must be able to pass a medical examination and meet health requirements. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time minimum 4 hours. Pay Range $35.97
