Genesee Community College seeks to hire instructors to teach workforce and community education courses in our BEST Center. These are part-time, non credit bearing positions ideal for professionals/retirees with an interest in sharing their knowledge and skills to prepare and train the current and future workforce in our service area. Courses are in the following Industrial Maintenance:

  • Motor Controls

  • Intro to Robot Operations & Programming

  • Digital Electronics & Sensors

  • Fluid Power

  • Blueprint Reading/GD&T, Metrology

  • PLC/Automation

RESPOSIBILITIES:

Teach courses/programs utilizing a combination of lecture and applied learning via hands-on activities.

Work with workforce staff to develop outlines, lesson plans and learning assessments.

Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including supplementary materials for lecture and lab-based activities as appropriate.

Identify proper tools and equipment required for labs as appropriate.

Conduct appropriate assessment of individual student learning.

Deliver content using a variety of methods to meet the needs of individual learners.

Assists Workforce Development staff, as appropriate, in the maintenance of instructional materials and laboratory facilities.

These are contractual, part-time positions ideal for professionals/retirees with an interest in sharing their knowledge and skills to prepare and train the current and future workforce in our service area.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Five (5) years of industry/work experience in instructional area. The ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in instructional area. Incumbent must be mindful of and develop solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.

Preferred:

Associate degree and at least ten (10) years of experience in instructional area. Five (5) years at Journeyman Level or combination of experience and training. Experience with teaching adults and curriculum development. Experience teaching adult learners and flexibility in working with diverse groups. A basic understanding of Microsoft Office.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Rate of compensation is $50 - $60/hour. Final candidates are subject to a pre-employment criminal background investigation. Final candidates are subject to a pre-employment criminal background investigation.
