Job Title: Quality Inspector

Job Description

Candidates will be responsible for checking the quality of the raw material that comes into the plant and the finished products leaving the plant. Inspection of material coming in is mostly sheet metal and they will be checking that the quantities, thickness, and the material is what the sheet says it is (Stainless, Carbon, Aluminum, etc.). Products going out of the plant will be compared to blueprints and measured based on the blueprints. Candidates will mostly be using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to check the pieces. Most of the QC happens in the QC office. They will retrieve the parts, check them, and then document the checks accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Check the quality of raw materials entering the plant.

  • Inspect finished products leaving the plant.

  • Verify material quantities, thickness, and type (Stainless, Carbon, Aluminum).

  • Compare finished products to blueprints and measure pieces accordingly.

  • Utilize micrometers, calipers, and gauges for inspections.

  • Document all quality checks accurately.

Essential Skills

  • 2 years of Quality Control experience in metals, plastics, or similar fields.

  • Experience with micrometers and calipers.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.

  • Experience with CMM, Excel, and documentation.

  • Experience in fabrication inspection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Quality control experience from a metal fabrication environment with diverse product types is a plus.

Work Environment

The company is not temperature controlled. It gets warm in the hot summer months, especially near the paintline. The rest of the plant is fairly mild with standard manufacturing floor conditions. Noise from the machines is present but not overly loud. It is a metal fabrication environment, so it can be somewhat dirty, but overall, the working conditions are average.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Batavia, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
