Job Description

Purpose

The Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for financial accounting, cost allocation, collection of data and preparation of reports that maintain AbbVie’s cost accounting systems for businesses supported. Other responsibilities may include: inventory analysis and reconciliation, reconciliation of intercompany balances, tax package preparation, in-transit accounting, DOH monitoring, planning activities and ad hoc financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Performs month-end processes for businesses supported. Includes but not limited to inventory reconciliation, deferred margin activity analysis, manufacturing variance analytics including purchase price variances from raw material purchases and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

  • Attends plant reviews and understands the growth/performance of their business.

  • Maintains inventory cycle count program and reporting for corporate compliance.

  • Prepares and reviews monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for specified general ledger accounts including inventory, fixed assets and liability accounts.

  • Perform intercompany reconciliation.

  • Prepare and issue monthly, quarterly, and annual results for businesses supported, including collaboration with business FP&A to ensure complete and accurate results with meaningful variance commentary.

  • Ensures that costs are allocated according to the established procedures.

  • Responds to requests for internal audit, external audit and intercompany billing for tax allocation purposes under guidance of a manager.

Significant work activities:

  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hr day) is required.

  • Frequent to continuous computer usage (greater or equal to 50% of the workday) is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

  • CPA/MBA desirable.

  • Minimum 5+ year’s related accounting experience required with at least 1 year in a manufacturing environment

  • Familiarity with standard cost variances analysis preferred.

  • Experience in SAP and HFM preferred.

*This is a hybrid position 3 days on site, 2 days remote; as per business needs.
