The global People team is a collaborative team that seeks out the diverse opinions, skills and strengths of our colleagues around the world with respect and empathy when delivering work for DJ. The People Business Partner team do this by working together for the greater good, sharing our expertise, experience and ideas to support each other both within our team and when engaging our Centers of Excellence. The global People team is predominantly located in New York, London, Barcelona, Hong Kong and Singapore. In Barcelona we have a team of 8 People team members that span recruitment, employee operations, learning and development, business partnering, employee and labour relations and health and safety. We’re a growing team looking to positively enhance the employee experience and support the business to achieve its objectives.
The Role:
Dow Jones has announced that we’re growing our office in Barcelona! To support this exciting period of growth we’re looking for an interim People Business Partner that is smart, has high emotional intelligence, and possesses an appreciable sense of humour. You will have a track record of working in a People function and in roles that have given you the opportunity to partner with clients in the business to demonstrate problem solving skills. You will report into the newly created role of Senior People Business Partner based in Barcelona.
What we’re looking for:
You are curious to understand the goals and objectives of the business and how the PBP team plays an important role as a strategic partner to our leadership teams.
You will develop an understanding of the businesses you support and be a partner to PBP managers on strategic initiatives supporting the roll out of these in the departments or client groups you support. You are resourceful, bringing the right people partners together to support business needs..
You can consult with clients on moderately complex HR processes, procedures, precedents, and initiatives engaging appropriate (COE) partners as required.
You understand compensation-related processes and can support management of professional categories throughout the employee lifecycle.
Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to leaders (coaching, counseling, career development, performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions) and engage with Employee Relations as needed
You will start to understand the importance of advocacy around diversity, equity and inclusion within the organization. You are familiar with disability quotas and programs.
Demonstrated ability to work in and manage ambiguity – dealing with issues that do not always have a process or a system in place. You know when to raise your hand when you need support and take an active role in looking for solutions and can learn from any mistakes.
You are able to communicate openly and transparently, assuming good intent when working with our business, our team and our partners. You ask for coaching when you need support handling a new challenge.
You deliver on what you promise your clients and your colleagues – thoughtfully and reliably. Managers know they can rely on you to follow through and they experience excellent partnership from you. You can build relationships well.
You can mentor an HR Assistant to support them when handling transactional work.

You Have:
5+ years of progressively responsible human resources experience
Foundational business acumen with a keen aptitude to quickly assimilate new information.
Proven ability to effectively interact with all organizational levels in a multicultural environment and build strong, trusted relationships.
Curiosity to learn and understand the business partner function and skillset
Open to understanding thoughtful, integrated approaches to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in talent attraction, development and retention
Experience and knowledge of current employment/labor laws (Spain required other European countries a plus), preferably working with a global HR team
Ability to function independently, with minimal supervision, and thrive within a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication
Effective collaboration, coaching and counseling skills
Ability to to work under pressure and be a proactive team player
Ability to manage and resolve sensitive employee issues
