What impact you'll make:

The Sr. EHS Site Leader- Fixed Facilities will act as GE Bangor’s leader and point of contact for Environmental Health, Safety, and compliance for the Bangor, ME Gas Turbine Value Stream manufacturing operation. The Sr. EHS Site Leader will be involved in “designing for EHS” (New Product Introduction), responsible for customer or industry engagement, will oversee a team of EHS professionals, and support the plant team of 275 total employees. This role will report directly into the Plant Manager and will work collaboratively with the Staff Leadership Team on-site.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead individuals located at manufacturing sites and fixed facilities (e.g., a service shop or O&M site) that provide daily EHS support for that facility.

  • Lead and mentor a team of EHS professionals and manage contracted occupational health clinic and security services.

  • Utilize broad and specialized EHS knowledge to influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and policy formulation.

  • Interpret simple internal and external business challenges and recommend or implement best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stay informed of industry trends that may inform work.

  • Use high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of emergency response, operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Have the ability to assess quality of information given and communicate pertinent questions to stakeholders. Ability to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and construct and provide recommendations. Use multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

  • At least 5 years of EHS experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • EHS - Fixed Facilities knowledge and experience from a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as organizations outside GE (regulatory agencies).

  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight schedules and able to bring assignments to a successful completion.

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and leadership skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

The base pay range for this position is $128 ,9 00.00 -$150,000 . The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 15% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. ​
