Amazon Software Developer Engineer II- TEST, Alexa Smart Home in Bangalore, India

Description

Alexa Smart Home team is responsible for integrating your smart home devices with Alexa and bringing your home to life! Our products complement the Alexa voice experience by giving customers quick and intuitive ways to interact with their home during moments that are more suited for touch and screen-based interactions.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Design and implement automated test frameworks/tools to reduce manual testing effort, and/or to assess and mitigate quality risks. The frameworks/tools are reliable, scalable, maintainable, and easy-to-use.

  • Defines test metrics and automates/simplifies team development and test processes.

  • Mentor junior team members/QAE team members, build automation skill set and apply engineer best practice.

  • Work closely with developers and define test automation strategy/solution for complex/ambiguous problem. The solutions are testable, maintainable, and efficient.

A day in the life

  • Responsible for maintaining existing automation framework, expand the current solution and implement enhancements for bi-weekly prod releases.

  • Responsible for designing new automation frameworks for testing Smart Home experience on multiple surfaces (Multimodal echo devices, Fire TV).

  • Influence partners and stakeholders by representing our end customers and raise the quality bar.

  • Mentor junior team members/QAE team members, build automation skill set and apply engineer best practice.

  • Optimize team's processes and work towards reducing operational QA costs.

About the team

Alexa Smart Home QA team is responsible for testing integration of your smart home devices with Alexa and ensuring we are providing a premium end-to-end experience. We own touch and screen based interaction testing on Mobile devices, Alexa devices with screens and Fire TV devices.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of test automation frameworks and tools building experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development testing experience

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

  • Experience designing or supporting low-maintenance automation frameworks

  • Experience in platform-level security mitigations and hardening for Linux and Windows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment

  • Experience with security in service-oriented architectures and web services
