As a #CICS-MQ Delivery Consultant, you will learn and experience how we apply technical expertise to ensure world-class delivery using consultative skills such as problem-solving / hypothesis-based methodologies, communication, and service orientation skills. As a member of IBM Technology Expert Labs, Global Delivery Center #GDC you will be client focused, courageous, pragmatic, and technical to optimize and trailblaze new solutions that address real business challenges. 

To help achieve this win-win outcome, a 'day-in-the-life' in this role may include, but not be limited to...

  • Working under general supervision you will be understanding clients' main challenges and developing solutions that help them transform mission-critical IBM Z applications for hybrid cloud environments with stability, security, and agility.

  • Participating in planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, verifying, and administering, CICS & MQ on z/OS

  • working closely with various stakeholders to ensure the efficient functioning of CMOD and to support the organization's document and content management needs.

  • Be a hands-on person and deliver and Involve in product installation/ configurations, troubleshooting (performance, 3rd party integrations, security)

  • Based on customer requirements, deliver the deployment

  • System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain IBM Content Manager OnDemand software. Manage user access, security, and permissions within the CICS/CICSPlex,

  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of the CICS/PLEX. Diagnose and resolve performance-related issues.

  • Maintenance and Upgrades: Perform routine system maintenance tasks, including backups and system updates. Plan and execute upgrades to newer versions of CICS & MQ and related subsystems.

  • Create and maintain CICS regions used by the applications including Assembler and Cobol programs

  • Administer the CICS regions according to application requirements (create new objects: transactions, tclass, programs)

  • Create and maintain the CICS monitoring infrastructure (OMEGAMON, System Automation feeds, etc.)

  • Provide and analyze SMF statistics on usage to various parties (eg. developers, managers, Operational Security Department)

  • Investigate and resolve problems in CICS and related areas

  • Investigation and evaluation of new products in the area (eg. the CICS Explorer)

  • Control and investigate CICS CPU usage

  • Provide support to the application programming groups including handling inquiry and new resource, requests, coding design questions, assist in resolving issues and abends

  • MQ part:

  • Control and investigate MQ CPU usage

  • Control and investigate MQ queues usage

  • Control and investigate Space usage

  • Deliver and analyze SMF statistics

  • Define MQ objects (channels, queues, aliases, etc.)

  • Maintain and adapt according to application growth (eg. new page sets, etc.)

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills as you work across the client, partner, and IBM team.

  • Participating in technical solution workshops

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 11-16+ Years of industry experience.

  • Provide technical support for customer. Own and action requests for service,

  • Implementing changes and resolving assigned problems (may involve some after hours and weekend work).

  • Provide 24x7 after hours on-call support as required for products supported by the team

  • Personal compliance and ownership on security, audit and systems integrity posture

  • Highlight areas for improvement in current processes, and implement improvements Must have:

  • At least 10 years of experience on similar position

  • English: intermediate level

  • Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Candidate should be self-organized, eager to learn with strong sense of analysis & troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to take the lead in problem solving and coordination of multi-disciplinary groups

  • Ability to multitask and switch to higher priority tasks when required

  • Take a lead for specific responsibility or area when needed

  • Experience using GSD or SMP/E for product installs and applying maintenance

  • Experience using trace, dumps and monitoring software for problem investigation and resolution

  • Experience coding programs in REXX

  • Experience with Omegamon/Tivoli products in terms of monitoring and problem determination

  • CICS knowledge:

  • Install, upgrade and maintain the CICS and CTG software

  • Create and maintain CICS regions

  • Administer the CICS regions according to application demands (eg. new transactions, connections etc.) and support the merge process

  • Create and maintain the CICS monitoring infrastructure (Omegamon, TMON, System Automation feeds, the 'CICS Monitor' etc)

  • Investigate and resolve problems in CICS and related DBDC areas

  • Performance review and tuning of the CICSes and CTGs

  • Investigation and evaluation of new products in the area (eg. the CICS Explorer)

  • MQ knowledge:

  • Support, administration and maintenance of MQ on z/OS

  • Must be passionate to Mentor juniors on their technical career development path

  • Experienced in Designing and Planning overall Datacentre migration strategy & Execution.

  • Conversion Infra tool development knowledge

  • Dynamic team player who is comfortable working in a small, but rapidly evolving environment.

  • A passion for making a difference in their profession and the environment.
