Description

We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the local government sector, located in Baltimore, Maryland. You will be tasked with maintaining and managing financial records, ensuring the accuracy and matching of grants, and utilizing your proficiency in Excel. Your role would also involve accounting for all grant funds and ensuring they are allocated to the appropriate programs.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize Excel to filter spreadsheets and manage Pivot Tables effectively

• Ensure the correct matching of grants

• Utilize software for various accounting tasks, where applicable

• Review financial documents to ensure all numbers match with the billed amounts and received grants

• Communicate effectively to gather missing or incorrect information for the grants

• Ensure all grant funds are accounted for and allocated to the correct programs

• Maintain and manage financial records accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of experience in a similar accounting role

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manage spreadsheets and pivot tables

• Prior experience with accounting software

• Familiarity with grants, including understanding of grant accounting and grant management principles

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
