Purpose of Role

Under Armour is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join its Global Headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated, passionate, flexible, and focused individual to join and passionate global tax team.

The main responsibilities of this role are coordinating, gathering, and analyzing the financial information needed to assist with all US and Canada corporate income tax matters including the income tax return compliance processes, ASC740 income tax accounting and reporting, maintaining the tax fixed asset ledgers, analyzing applicable enacted tax laws, and conducting tax research.

The Senior Tax Accountant will report to the Senior Manager of Global Tax.

Your Impact

  • Preparing book to tax adjustments and deliverables to be provided to the Company’s third-party tax preparer for US and Canada corporate income, gross receipts, and franchise tax return compliance

  • Managing the day-to-day compliance process with external tax preparers

  • Reviewing tax returns drafted by the Company’s third-party tax preparer

  • Preparing and filing quarterly US and Canada income tax installments

  • Preparing the ASC 740 income tax provisions for US and Canada entities, including uncertain tax position (UTP/FIN48) reserve determinations and documentation

  • Preparing tax disclosures and footnotes for the SEC Form 10-K and 10-Q

  • Supporting quarterly reviews and annual audits with our external public accounting firm for ASC 740 provisions and tax structuring projects

  • Managing state and local corporate income and franchise tax audits

  • Managing federal and state tax depreciation books within the SAP ERP system

  • Overseeing correspondences with federal, state, and local jurisdictions and resolving tax issues

  • Assisting in quarterly, annual, and long-term effective tax rate planning and forecasting

  • Assisting with federal and state income tax planning projects

  • Performing tax research relating to specific tax issues or tax planning opportunities

  • Serving as a resource and developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders with an emphasis on Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Human Resources, Payroll, Treasury, Financial Planning and Analysis, external tax advisors and other internal departments

  • Executing on high priority assignments and projects efficiently and accurately

  • Responding to sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism

  • This role does not have direct employee supervision responsibility

  • May include training employees and/or consultants relative to certain projects

  • Oversight of external tax advisors and consultants

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in ASC 740 income tax accounting, including understanding of UTP/FIN48 required

  • Knowledge of a multi-state income tax and franchise tax compliance, including unitary, combined, and consolidated filing rules and apportionment

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Ability to express facts and ideas in writing in a clear and organized manner; listen effectively and clarify information as needed

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various departments

  • Detail oriented and ability to work independently and efficiently

  • Ability to be flexible and prioritize/manage multiple initiatives concurrently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • BS or MS in Accounting or equivalent required

  • 3+ years of public accounting tax experience or a mix of public tax accounting and corporate tax department experience preferred

  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus

  • Experience with OneSource tax provision or comparable software preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and tax research software (CCH, RIA or equivalent) required

  • Experience with bridging and analyzing financial data for tax specific needs

  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP preferred

  • Experience in fixed asset federal and state depreciation book maintenance and the ability to properly apply federal and multi-state depreciation rules

  • Experience or ability to manage state and local income and franchise tax audits

  • Proficiency in research of tax laws, rules and regulations and apply to specific scenarios

  • Experience with Power Bi/Power Query/Alteryx preferred

Base Compensation

$79,810.00 - $109,739.30 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
