U.S. Coast Guard Shop Planner (Sheetmetal), WD-4701-06 in Baltimore, Maryland

Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard YARD, Industrial Department, Structural Group, Baltimore, Maryland. Responsibilities You will be responsible for ordering and expediting the delivery of fabrication and production materials to meet established work schedules. Must have practical knowledge in the sheet metal, boat joiner, and wood worker trades and know and understand which materials are commonly used. Working for the Coast Guard as a civilian makes you a valuable team member. Typical duties include: Handling procurements, logistics, record keeping, and disposal of hazardous material. Obtaining and retaining a U.S. Government Purchase Card. Receiving Bills of Material (BM) and associated drawings for controlled projects and you must review the BM to determine material designated for the sheetmetal and boatjoiner shop, verifying listed stock numbers and determining approx unit of cost for each item. Entering all purchases into NESSS and maintaining all receipts and obligations. Performing market research for purchases utilizing NESSS, EMALL, Fedlog, manufacturers' catalogs, and by contacting vendors directly. Inspecting incoming material to the shop or in transit at Supply. Assisting in compiling budget estimates for the production shops. Submitting quarterly, bi-annual or annual contracts for maintenance on machinery and equipment and scheduling maintenance appointments in accordance with the service contracts. Operating as the Hazardous Waste Point Manager (HQPM) for the group; ensuring that materials are disposed of properly in accordance with Yard environmental standards.
