Robert Half Senior Accountant in Baltimore, Maryland

Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant in the Construction/Service industry, based in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The role involves assisting the Controller with various monthly tasks, managing intercompany transactions, and handling certain shared services aspects such as Accounts Payable and Intercompany Processing. The position plays a crucial role in overseeing the monthly closing process, producing department financial statements, and managing requests related to annual audit and tax-related tasks.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist the Controller in carrying out monthly tasks, including balance sheet and income statement activities

• Manage intercompany transactions and shared services aspects such as Accounts Payable and Intercompany Processing

• Oversee the monthly closing process to ensure all financial data is accurate

• Prepare and present monthly department financial statements

• Facilitate inter-departmental communication to ensure smooth business operations

• Supervise the accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed

• Handle requests related to the annual audit, tax-related tasks, and other accounting matters

• Provide excellent internal and external customer service at all times

• Conduct financial analysis and reporting as required

• Manage business systems to support business operations.

Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the construction or contractor industry

• Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Demonstrable knowledge of General Ledger management and Journal Entries

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Previous involvement in Annual Inventory processes

• Familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP) procedures

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Knowledge of accounting software and databases

• CPA certification would be considered an asset.
