Job Information
University of Maryland, Baltimore Postdoctoral Fellow in Baltimore, Maryland
A Postdoctoral Fellowship position is immediately available in the Spatial Systems Biology Laboratory at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis. The lab studies the role(s) of lipids (engineered or native) in the early innate immune response in multiple infection models. The project is focused on developing new therapeutic targets for pulmonary infections, including bacterial, fungal, and viral models. We use mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) to spatially resolve the host-pathogen interface to develop systems-level understanding of the interaction for therapeutic target development. This Postdoc will participate in exciting and diverse aspects of the project: 1) infection modeling and validation of novel therapeutic targets for Cystic Fibrosis; 2) spatial characterization of pathogenesis by MSI; 3) using advanced analytical methods, including machine learning and artificial intelligence to extract regulated system data to represent the model(s). The ideal candidate will have a background (PhD) in microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, mass spectrometry, chemistry, or closely related areas. Willingness to work with rodent models is a requirement. This position will be a critical member of a dynamic team working in close collaboration with a diverse research group and must have good oral and written communication skills.
