TheUniversity of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Generalist Division Director who will lead the clinical, administrative, educational, and research goals of the division. The Division Director of General Obstetrics and Gynecology will be responsible for demonstrating advanced proficiency in managing a comprehensive range of general obstetric and gynecologic conditions. Reporting directly to the Chair of the Department, this role entails overseeing strategic planning, program development, and the expansion of clinical operations and outreach, aligned with the department's mission, vision, and values. This pivotal leadership position requires an academic physician with exceptional clinical skills, as well as strong business and marketing acumen. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in delivering exemplary patient care, exhibiting collaborative leadership, fostering individual scholarship, driving program growth, achieving educational excellence, and recruiting top faculty talent. The successful candidate will be well-versed in national trends and best practices in Obstetrics and Gynecology and will demonstrate a robust commitment to medical education and the advancement of research opportunities for students, residents, fellows, and faculty members. Essential to this role is the ability to recruit, develop, mentor, and manage academic faculty and staff across clinical, research, and educational domains. An innovative leader with experience navigating complex academic institutions, health centers, and teaching hospitals, coupled with substantial administrative experience, is preferred. Duties and Responsibilities: · In partnership with the Chair of the Department, develop a comprehensive strategy and plan for the growth and development of the division’s clinical, educational, and research activities which currently includes 13 academic generalist faculty practicing at 4 locations · Effectively leads the Division towards excellence in the conduct of teaching, research, patient care delivery, administrative services, and community commitment · Create a culture that encourages faculty promotion by prioritizing development and engagement through clinical research, national service, and scholarly publication · Identify opportunities for clinical niche development within the framework of academic General Obstetrics and Gynecology to promote growth and distinction of the division in the institution and across the greater Baltimore-DC-VA community · Develop the division’s faculty with emphasis on delivering evidence-based patient-centered care and encouraging growth in other aspects of the academic mission including teaching and research. · Participate in the direct supervision and training of faculty, residents, and medical students · Participate in in-house labor and delivery and gynecology call coverage Qualifications: * · Board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology with an MD, DO, MD/PhD · Unrestricted Maryland Medical licensure will be required prior to commencement of employment · Meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges · Strong commitment to clinical care, education, and research · At least 4 years of relevant experience * The expected rank for this position will be Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank and tenure status will be commensurate with selected candidate’s experience.
