The expected base pay salary range for this position is $62,132 - $74,088.
The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the School of Education's faculty compensation program or pay from participation in the School of Education's incentive compensation programs. Johns Hopkins University seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow for a year-long appointment in the School of Education (SOE), beginning Winter 2025 (or by March 1 at the latest). The fellowship will be under the direction of Ebony O. McGee, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor and Director of Innovation and Inclusion in the STEM Ecosystem. Scholars who have completed a Ph.D. in education or a related field with a strong social science research skillset are invited to apply to work on cutting edge research and development to advance our understanding of how structural racism impacts the traditional STEM ecosystem and how minoritized students and professionals can resist this paradigm.
Fellowship focus: The Fellow will be expected to assist in organizing project execution, supporting and participating in publication efforts, driving recruitment for multiple research projects and collaborating with the team to develop new resources such as survey instruments and research protocols. Additionally, the Fellow will be actively involved in grant writing, drafting comprehensive reports and synthesizing findings into accessible formats that effectively communicate progress and outcomes to various stakeholders.
Interested candidates will provide a brief proposal that articulates how their research interests align with the goals and projects of this announcement.
Final goals and objectives will be jointly established at the start of the fellowship, and will include elements of research design, data collection and analysis, grant writing, mentoring experience, interacting with school, district, and state partners, preparation of publications, and career development. The Fellow will work closely with the other members of the research and development team (researchers and practitioners) and have opportunities to learn about and collaborate with research teams in SOE and throughout the JHU community in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment.
The fellowship provides a competitive stipend, a conference and travel stipend, and other benefits for a year. The selected candidate will be appointed as a postdoctoral fellow through the School of Education where training will include access to the rich academic environment (seminars, colloquia, teaching opportunities, etc.) and conduct research as part of Dr. McGee's research team.
Required skills:
Experience in educational research
Demonstrated background in research design and statistics
Facility with statistical software and willingness to learn additional platforms
Comfort with working in online platforms for research and collaboration
Preferred skills:
Experience and scholarship in Education
Knowledge of field of STEM Education
Experience working with K-12 students/schools
Light programming/coding in one or more languages (R, Access, Java, SQL, etc.)
Must have a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field of study.
PhD must be completed prior to acceptance. Students in the process of completion must provide assurance that all degree requirements will be complete prior to start.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
