Jacobs Entry Level Transportation Planner in Baltimore, Maryland

We are hiring Transportation Planners to join the Rail & Transit practice in our Mid-Atlantic region (Philadelphia, Baltimore, or Washington, DC offices). The planners on our team work on a variety of tasks, from asset and fleet management plans to multi-modal corridor planning, to helping agencies improve service plans, operations, and infrastructure. We are looking for team members to help us deliver a range of statewide and multi-modal transportation planning projects. The candidate will work under the direction of a project manager or senior planner.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Rail & Transit practice to deliver a range of transportation planning and engineering projects.

  • Assist in the development and management of bus and rail plans, feasibility studies, conceptual design documents, and service development plans for rail and transit projects.

  • Collect and analyze data, and prepare studies to support decisions on transportation systems, policies, and standards.

  • Attend project meetings and assist in coordination with different teams, consultants, and clients.

  • Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, including meetings and workshops.

  • Help prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.

  • Provide support to planning staff members as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, policy, Geography, or a related field. * Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment to develop engineering drawings and documents.

  • Resourceful, curious, and self-directed.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Excellent technical writing with the ability to develop work plans and document technical discussions.

  • Experience with GIS

  • Ability to deal with large datasets, sort through large amounts of data, and create visualizations.

  • Course work related to transportation.
