The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (PTRS) within the School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for aDirector, Student Services. TheDirectoris responsible for the department’s academic programs, including recruitment activities and events, marketing, admissions, enrollment, retention overall student success and development, and alumni relations. This role manages the day to day operations of the programs and the students that we support through the creation of clear objectives that align with the goals of the department and the mission of the School and University. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland. * *PRIMARY DUTIES * * Direct and lead all aspects of departmental functions related to the academic programs in order to maintain their efficient operation: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Dual DPT/Doctor of Philosophy Physical Rehabilitation Science (PhD), Dual DPT/Master of Public Health (MPH) and Bachelor of Science (BS)/DPT. * Provide strategic direction to programs and events to foster and provide co-curricular and inter-disciplinary learning, leadership, cultural, and social interaction opportunities for students. * Partner with department leadership and faculty directors on a regular basis in setting strategic goals/objectives and in fostering improvements in policies/procedures for the academic programs. * Create a cohesive team that works collaboratively to achieve program goals. * Provide direction and leadership through goals and objectives for all aspects of the academic programs including marketing, recruiting, admissions, matriculation, retention, academic progression and success, and alumni relations. * Create and maintain a solid alumni network and manage annual events for alumni. * Work directly with the School of Medicine Development Office to increase participation and engagement with alumni. * Provide oversight on student academic progression to include leave of absence, withdrawal/dismissal, remediations and out of step solutions. * Direct all events for prospective students, current students, and alumni and provide positive experiences to increase the visibility and prominence of the department. * Collaborate and build relationships with other university departments and units to share best practices to enhance the efficiencies of the program and the quality of the student experience. * Proactively represent the department through participation in campus meetings and special projects, as well as UMB on an external basis with USM headquarters and other system-wide units. * Analyze and report on enrollment and student trends and make recommendations on new strategies and initiatives to increase student satisfaction. * Other duties as assigned. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: *Bachelor's degree in a related field. Master's degree or additional certification in social work, counseling, student affairs, education administration or related field can be substituted for two years of experience. Juris Doctorate can be substituted for three years of experience. *Experience:Seven (7) years of progressive experience working with college students. Supervisory Experience:Four (4) years of work coordination, training, or supervision. Other:Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted. * *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Proven experience as a professional in a diverse setting. * Knowledge of the day to day operations of programs or projects. * Effective communication skills. * Integrity, empathy and professionalism. * A positive, patient and resilient personality. * Ability to work independently and problem-solve with minimal supervision with skill in exercising initiative and resourcefulness. * *HIRING RANGE:$105,000 - $120,000 per year (Commensurate with education and experience) UMB is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
