The University of Maryland School of Medicine, Institute of Human Virology (IHV)is currently recruiting for aBusiness Development/Proposal Manager. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland. * *Primary Duties: * In collaboration with programmatic leadership and faculty/principal investigators plan, develop and coordinate meeting current grant requirements and milestones, particularly submission of progress reports, annual budgets, final program, and financial reports and ensuring subgrants/contracts and/or consultancies to the Division or from the Division are processed. * Plan project renewals and communications strategy for program. Work with senior management in developing program goals and milestones for growth. * In collaboration with grants & contracts team at IHV, coordinates the proposal and narrative development for grant submissions/proposals for various agencies and funders, specifically the NIH and CDC but also with other non-governmental donors. * Plan and coordinate daily activities of a program including monitoring relationships of outside agencies or subcontractors. * Provide advanced administrative to the programmatic leadership and faculty/PIs. Perform specialized administrative and academic functions, including research and financial data analyses, program coordination and monitoring, program submission data collection, database creation, reports, and recommends changes in program administration or proposal development processes to optimize them. * Monitor and maintain relationships with contractors, partners (foreign and domestic), state agencies, and sponsors to ensure compliance with work plan and deliverables. * Manage proposal development for smaller opportunities throughout the proposal development lifecycle and supports the Director Health Program/Administrator and Faculty in preparing complex grant submissions/proposals through preparing biosketches/CVs, facilities/equipment/capacity statements, “other support” and similar annexes/supporting documents, outlines, as well as gathering and summarizing needed data, writing or editing sections of proposals, making section assignments, developing partner scopes of work and reviewing proposal drafts. This includes ensuring alignment, consistency and responsiveness across programmatic themes, budget, workplan and appendices. * Provides advanced support to the Director Health Program/Administrator, faculty, and country leaders in identifying, analyzing, and pursuing business development opportunities. * Develop and facilitate meetings proposal design sessions and/or presentations with high impact on participants. * Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and participant communications. * Manage program activities through delegation of assignments to staff. May mentor other support staff. * Perform other related duties. Education:Bachelor's degree. Experience:Four (4) years of program oversight including program planning, budget, and coordination Certification/Licensure:Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
