The MDOT MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MDOT MTA team.
The Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT) (MTA) is recruiting for B Repairman - Metro/Light Rail Car. The B Repairman engages in all aspects of major/minor inspections as well as preventative and corrective maintenance on rail vehicles and all its sub-components. Makes repairs to main/auxiliary propulsion and associated systems, couplers, brake system, air compressor, door controls, heating ventilating and cooling systems, traction motors, rewiring and overhauling of electrical system. Must be able to operate service equipment (trucks, forklifts, shop carts, and 20-ton cranes and hoists). And will perform various other duties associated with the Rail Car Maintenance Group when necessary.
The current vacancy is located at the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) in Baltimore, Maryland.
The current work schedule varies on a 24-hour shift.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency (GED) certificate.
Experience: One (1) year of experience repairing, maintaining, or inspecting mechanical and electro-mechanical systems or their components.
SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
NOTE: A written examination will be given to all qualified applicants to fill current and future vacancies.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee will be required to have and maintain a reliable communication link for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.
Employee may be required to work shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Employee may be exposed to a variety of hazards, requiring the wearing of protective clothing and the use of appropriate safety and Personal Protective Equipment.
Employees in this position are considered "Essential Employees" and will be required to sign and agree to all policies and procedures relating to "Essential Employee" status.
