Summary

The F-16 Hydraulics Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the hydraulic systems on F-16 aircraft to ensure peak performance and safety. This role involves inspecting, servicing, and testing hydraulic components that control vital functions, such as landing gear, flight controls, and brakes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of F-16 hydraulic systems, identifying wear, damage, or leaks. Service and replace parts as necessary to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety standards.

  • Diagnose hydraulic system malfunctions and implement repairs on components, including pumps, actuators, valves, and lines.

  • Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to identify and resolve issues accurately.

  • Execute pressure tests, operational checks, and calibrations to verify proper system function. Ensure that all hydraulic components meet operational standards and verify accuracy for safe flight operations.

  • Maintain accurate documentation.

  • Adhere to safety and compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate with the maintenance team.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.

  • In order to obtain a secret clearance, qualified candidates must have US Citizenship.

  • Ability to pass physical screening requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Must have held a USAF 7 skill level or equivalent in F-16 Hydraulics Systems.

Work Conditions

Position is located OCONUS and in an austere environment; work is being performed on the flight line, limited hangar or aviation field environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and parts, tooling and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including up and down stairs.

  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.

  • Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
