About the Regional Sales Manager role:

This Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will lead strategic sales targeting industrial customer accounts including food & beverage, power plants, chemical and petrochemical and industrial engineering firms. You'll promote the company’s industrial products, from instrumentation and reagents to fully integrated solutions and services.

The territory includes the Central Valley and the surrounding areas including San Francisco, Bakersfield, Paso Robles, and San Luis Obispo. To be successful, you will be traveling 75% of the time to meet with at least 10 customers a week. Some travel may require overnight stays at company approved accommodations.

This highly autonomous role requires strong intuition for business, planning, and the ability to implement strategic sales plans. The most successful Regional Sales Managers have an entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with assigned sales resources to develop monthly sales territory and account plans to achieve assigned targets.

  • Executes planned activities and documents in Hach CRM, Salesforce.com (SFDC).

  • Manages all opportunities utilizing SFDC and following standard sales process steps.

  • Prepares and presents a monthly funnel review utilizing SFDC to demonstrate the quality of the funnel, activity plans and command of the account base.

  • Prepares and presents monthly forecast by accurately managing opportunity dates, dollar value and probabilities in SFDC.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with engineering firms and other accounts that indirectly influence the buying decisions of the customer

  • Develops a network of customer and industry contacts in the territory to position Hach as a key member of the water management community

  • Active participation in identification, qualification and targeting of high-value prospect organizations through external networking and internal relationship building

  • Collects and reports information on all competitive activity, business opportunities, sales trends and results within the assigned market providing input during monthly business review

  • Participates in sales activities including: customer site visits, telephone contacts, trade seminars and shows, product demonstrations/evaluations, customer seminars and channel management.

  • Acts as a mentor for the growth and development of other RSMs by sharing best practices

  • Local knowledge of water using and producing facilities in the territory

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of practical water management as an operator, seller, technician, engineer, project manager, or other field related role

  • B2B experience selling complex industrial products and solutions

  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field such as Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in the field.

  • Overnight travel required within the assigned territory: 75%

  • Hands-on experience using a CRM (i.e. Salesforce.com) preferred

  • Ability to develop and execute a business plan and manage territory as a business

Desirable requirements:

Certifications:

  • California State Water Resources Control Board, Grade D4 or D5

  • Valid California State Water Resource Control Board T3 Certificate or CWEA Wastewater Operator 3 Certificate or Advanced Water Treatment 3 Certificate

  • Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Environmental Health Specialist as required by the State of California's Health and Safety Code

  • EIT (Engineer In Training) or PE (Professional Engineer) a plus

Preferred Experience (5+ years):

  • Liquid Analytical Equipment (as an engineer, a technician, or solutions provider

  • Hands on experience using Hach (and/or similar) equipment (for example, the DR3900, DR900, DR1900, Orbisphere, 6110, GLI, etc.)

  • End user experience in an analytical testing environment, including pharmaceutical, petrochemical, food production and metals manufacturing facilities, mines, et. al.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this role is $90,000 – 100,000 base + monthly commissions. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.

An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $90,000.00 - $102,000.00 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Incentive Pay.
