Amentum is seeking an experienced Workday Technical - Functional Principal Architect who brings a unique blend of technical skill and functional insight to effectively design, implement, and optimize business processes within Workday. This role will be instrumental in developing solutions that align with our HR, Finance, and Payroll needs. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of end-to-end business processes and the technical acumen to configure and customize Workday to support complex organizational requirements.
This is a remote-telework role. US Citizenship is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Design & Architecture: Lead the design, configuration, and management of Workday’s technical architecture, including Core Connectors, EIB, Studio, and Technical Reporting, to support robust integrations and custom solutions across various business processes.
Functional Module Expertise & Business Process Optimization: Act as a subject matter expert for Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, and Talent Acquisition modules. Drive the design and implementation of these modules by leveraging an in-depth understanding of best practices and optimizing processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the employee lifecycle.
End-to-End Business Process Design: Lead the analysis, design, and implementation of key HR business processes, focusing on Hire-to-Retire, Talent Management, Compensation Planning, Benefits Administration, and Recruitment workflows. Ensure these processes are seamlessly integrated within Workday and aligned with organizational goals.
Process Improvement & Best Practices: Evaluate existing workflows and recommend improvements by leveraging Workday capabilities to streamline processes, reduce manual efforts, and ensure data accuracy. Implement best practices and continuously improve processes to support scalability and efficiency.
Cross-System Integration: Design and manage integrations across Workday and external systems (e.g., Finance ERP, Payroll providers, CRM systems like Clinch, ATS such as Taleo and iCIMS) to ensure data accuracy and process alignment, facilitating smooth end-to-end workflows.
Compliance & Security Management: Oversee compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, GDPR, FEDRAMP, OFCCP), ensuring that Workday and integrated systems adhere to data privacy, security protocols, and industry standards.
AI & Analytics Integration: Utilize AI-driven insights and integrate People Analytics within Workday to enhance data-driven decision-making, with a focus on improving the efficiency and impact of HR processes.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest Workday enhancements, proactively seeking opportunities to optimize business processes and leverage new functionalities for added business value.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years of Workday HCM experience with demonstrated technical and functional expertise.
10+ years of related industry experience with a strong focus on HRIS, HCM architecture, and end-to-end business process design and optimization.
Expertise in Workday Integrations (Core Connectors, EIB, Studio) and Technical Reporting for customized solutions.
Proficiency in Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, and Talent Acquisition modules, with a strategic understanding of associated business processes and functional requirements.
Proven experience in designing and optimizing complex, industry-specific HR business processes within Workday, with a focus on improving efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; or relevant years of experiences.
US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the Government Contracting (GovCon) sector, with a strong understanding of industry-specific compliance requirements.
Advanced technical and functional skills in HR business process design, allowing for a strategic, holistic approach to Hire-to-Retire lifecycle management.
Demonstrated experience leading process transformation initiatives in complex, merger/acquisition environments.
Experience migrating from legacy HCM systems (e.g., Oracle R12, PeopleSoft) to Workday, ensuring functional and technical alignment across systems.
Strong project management skills, with experience in Agile methodologies and risk management.
