UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN Underwater Acoustics Engineering Scientist in Austin, Texas
Direct, perform and develop advanced engineering and scientific research projects for a University Affiliated Research Center (UARC).Process and analyze acoustic data for developing, testing, and evaluating SONAR systems.Develop and implement research grade software and analysis tools in MATLAB and UNIX shell scripting. Software applications may include novel graphic visualizations, statistical analysis methods, or signal processing applications.Travel to remote locations to provide support for data collection and processing efforts at sites and at sea.Prepare and review analysis presentations and technical reports, and presenting results at internal and external meetings. Would include travel to present at external working group meetings, as well as directly to sponsors.Determine project requirements and desired results, and develop procedures to be used to attain such results and evaluate success/failure in achieving stated goals.Collaborate with and participate in dynamic, multi-functional teams in support of specific program objectives, which may include advising and overseeing junior staff.Assist with data transfer processes and ensure compliance with security requirements.Work on special projects as assigned.Other related functions as assigned.
