WORK HOURS 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week, full-time or 20 hours a week, part-time. This position may require the employee to be in the office based on their assigned job duties or projects as determined by their supervisor. Employees may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. DESCRIPTION Join the Texas Medical Boards Internship program! Our internship program offers paid, temporary employment positions for students currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited college, university, or technical school. Selected candidates will be required to submit an official transcript to Human Resources for review prior to starting with the agency. Internships for the spring 2025 period will begin no earlier than January 6, 2025, and end no later than May 31, 2025. Internships may be extended pending the availability of funds. The Texas Medical Board is seeking interns to perform entry-level professional work in the areas of finance, human resources, information technology, legal, licensing and permits, legislation/governmental affairs, communications, statistical analysis, staff services support, or enforcement/operational support. GENERAL DESCRIPTION Performs highly complex (senior-level) usiness administrative support work. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS May review, edit, and/or reconcile discrepancies in reports, records, forms or similar types of documents. May prepare documents for data entry and post information to agency records. May file and maintain agency records or information. May assemble, organize and prepare data for analysis. May develop forms or specialized reports. May conduct research for departmental policies and procedures. Works on special projects to support department functions/needs. Performs related work as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited college, university, or technical school. Students recently graduated within the past 12 months are eligible to apply. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Must have a minimum of 30 semester credit hours or more from an accredited college, university, or technical school. PREFFERED REQUIREMENTS Course work in business administration, finance, accounting, law, human resources, information technology, communication, or government. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Business or program terminology, methods, and procedures. Skill in: The use of standard office equipment and personal computers. Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Effective written and verbal communication including telephone etiquette and business writing. Ability to: Analyze or evaluate problems. Develop, recommend, or present alternative solutions. Perform detail-orientated tasks with a high degree of accuracy. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Work with sensitive and confidential information. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS This position is eligible for telecommuting after completion of training. The principal job is performed in a standard office or remote environment and requires: Must reside in Texas. Dual employment at another state agency or Texas public university is not permitted.
