Baylor Scott & White Health Sr. Project Manager, Cloud Based Data and Analytics in Austin, Texas
JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the success of the projects they manage, including overseeing that projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and meet the quality and standards of the Organization. This role specifically supports the Health Catalyst Ignite migration and facilitates the transition of elements of the Clinical Analytics Platform to the Cloud Data Platform (CDP) powered by Snowflake. The Sr. Project Manager will have the autonomy to make critical decisions and be an integral part of advancing the organization's data strategy. All assignments are primarily focused on technical projects and analytics initiatives, as prioritized by organizational leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Defines project scope, timelines and resources required to complete business objective within time frame required. Outlines quality control measures and reporting systems and change management plan in project documentation. Secures an executive sponsor
Establishes project deliverables and timeframes and holds project team accountable for completion, keeping in mind both short-term and long-term objectives. Establishes clear project charter, team roles, responsibilities and accountabilities to ensure success of project. Prepares and presents project scope document and reaches agreement on project parameters and objectives. Receives approvals at each phase of project.
Negotiates with appropriate management for resources required to successfully complete projects. Identifies project activities, skills required and time commitment for project team members. Presents the business case for the project, number and types of resources required. Explains approach to project and strategy for completion.
Manages the lifecycle of the project, resolving problems, providing feedback to project team members, securing training, tools required. Initiates project, assesses risks, determines project costs, and monitors quality for results.
Creates work breakdown structures, builds activity lists, determines activity sequencing, builds schedules and estimates completions.
Supervises the day-to-day activities of team members in an effective, timely, and professional manner.
Ensures that project team members adhere to the Organization and department policies and procedures at all times.
Manages vendors and consultant partners ensuring contract compliance and expected performance.
Establishes reporting requirements, communication methods for updating all interested parties regarding project progress, costs and successes to support project milestones and stakeholder requirements. Implements dashboards, reporting tools and updates as required.
Anticipates and removes hurdles to project completion; recommends contingencies as needed with assistance from senior management. Establishes risk profiles, quantifies risk data and develops response with mitigation plans.
Closes out projects, verifying and documenting project results, prepares final reports, summarizes successes and provides recommendations for improvements.
Oversee the migration of data and analytics solutions from legacy platforms to Health Catalyst Ignite and the Snowflake-based Cloud Data Platform, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
Identify and address dependencies between the Clinical Analytics Platform and other key systems, collaborating with technical teams to ensure successful integration and interoperability.
Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to implement data architecture and ETL processes that support the transition to a cloud-based analytics environment.
Driver user adoption to new tools and platforms through effective change management strategies, training plans, and user support.
Ensure all technical migrations and implementations adhere to data governance policies and comply with relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
Develop and manage project plans, utilizing agile methodologies to coordinate development sprints and ensure timely delivery of technical milestones.
Support post-migration validation and testing processes to confirm data accuracy, platform functionality, and performance optimization.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, Healthcare or related field preferred
5+ years of relevant experience
Project Management Certification a plus.
Aptitude for synthesizing conversations and process documentation to effectively communicate the most critical concepts required for understanding.
Ability to effectively analyze data, and concisely present findings and strategies to senior leadership
Experience in managing competing priorities and deadlines requiring interdepartmental cooperation.
Knowledge of project management principles, techniques, monitoring systems and software needed to manage multiple projects.
Ability to influence others to a particular point of view using business logic, data and experience.
Ability to create engaging content and professional presentations to multiple levels of management.
Demonstrated project management experience using both waterfall and agile methodologies
Strong knowledge in healthcare operations and finance
Strong knowledge in healthcare financial structures and operations Experience/Skills
Mastery of Project Management methodologies
High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills
Experience with various business applications to manage projects, scorecards, communications, etc.
Solution-oriented and demonstrates flexibility in problem solving, using collaborative techniques to identify project problems and implement solutions.
Experience with cloud-based platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, particularly in managing data migrations and analytics solutions.
Knowledge of data integration processes, ETL processes, data modeling , and data warehousing best practices.
Familiarity with healthcare analytics tools and platforms such as Health Catalyst or similar enterprise data solutions.
Understanding of Healthcare compliance frameworks such as HIPAA.
Proven experience managing projects using agile methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog management, and iterative development cycles.
Demonstrated ability to lead user adoption strategies, develop training materials, and support end-users in transition to new technologies.
Ability to work effectively across clinical, technical, and business domains to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
Expertise in identifying risks related to technical migrations and developing effective mitigation plans.
Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and synthesize complex ideas to actionable insights.
Cloud certifications such as SnowPro Core or Microsoft Azure Data Engineer a plus
