    JOB SUMMARY

Austin Habitat for Humanity is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team of committed professionals to help take a successful, 30+ year old, organization to new heights. The Shop Carpenter with be a critical member of the team that supports and executes the production of building components for new construction homes. The successful candidate will have a passion to share Habitat’s work by helping build, renovate and repair homes in partnership with families and the community toward a goal of eliminating substandard housing.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assist in building components for new homes that include wall panelization, structural components, pre-fabricating sheds, and pre-cut interior trim packages.

  • Prepare construction material, tools and accessories for weekly construction activity

  • Assist with vehicle and tool maintenance and general construction warehouse maintenance

  • Assist with inventory and material management

  • Lead and work with volunteers to compete construction tasks in warehouse

  • Receive and pick up material

  • Responsible for facility cleanliness

  • Ensure a positive, efficient and welcoming atmosphere in construction warehouse

  • Participate in meetings, classes and events as assigned

  • This position is fully on-site at either our AHFH south Austin warehouse or AHFH build site. 

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse populations.

  • General understanding of building trades.

  • High work ethic and willing to work until job is done.

  • Reliable transportation to job sites in various locations throughout Austin Habitat for Humanity service area, a valid Texas Drivers License and current automotive liability insurance

  • Hands on, flexible and detailed oriented

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Two years direct construction experience

  • MS Word, Excel computer skills

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of residential framing experience

  • ProCore and Smartsheet experience

  • High level of interpersonal, written and verbal skills
