Position Summary

As a Senior Security Engineer on the IAM API Gateway Team you will be responsible to design, develop, build and maintain an API framework that exposes IAM services to our customers. You will be actively involved in the project lifecycle producing rapid prototypes early in the design phase.

The Senior Security Engineer will be playing a pivotal role in adopting DevSecOps principles within their development approach with emphasis on Behavior Driven Development and Code coverage. The Senior Security Engineer will also be bridging the gap between the visual elements and the server-side infrastructure, taking an active role on both sides, and defining how the application looks and functions. As the Senior Developer, you will be responsible for both front-end and back-end development along with maintaining the application database schema.

In this role, the candidate will be required to form strategic partnerships with key internal partners and subject matter authorities to achieve business results.

Fundamental Components:

  • Technical Leader and SME in API technologies, integration practices and end-to-end delivery using technologies such as API C, Apigee, Kong, API M, Java.

  • Lead and mentor a team of up to 10 specialized engineers and IT professionals fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

  • Recruit, hire, train and retain a high performing engineering team, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning

  • Lead end-to-end, from strategy through execution. Proactively identify and mitigate risks. Lead teams in Devops, SRE, Observability, and release rigor to achieve high release success rates and strengthen stability.

  • Guides work prioritization in alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Monitor and optimize performance, identifying opportunities for enhancement and addressing any issues or bottlenecks.

  • Establish metrics to measure value, efficiency, and improvements.

  • Lead the team in adopting new and innovative practices and technologies. Leader of change and comfortable in high-paced environments with high levels of ambiguity. Lead team in pivoting as needed while remaining steadfastly focused on the overall objective.

  • Collaborate closely with other IT teams, business units and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide effective solutions.

  • Communication ability to report on progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior management and stakeholders, including presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in software engineering end-to-end delivery including leading team in solutioning, coding, and production support.

  • 2+ years in API Development, integration technologies and practices (such as API C, Kong, Apigee, API M, Microservices, Java, etc.)

  • 2+ years of working experience with REST API and JSON.

  • 2+ years of working experience in the Agile/Scrum development lifecycle.

  • 2+ years development experience with LDAP and Active directory integration

  • 2+ years of experience using SQL, NoSQL and other databases.

  • 2+ years of working experience on Cloud technologies (such as Azure, AKS, AWS, GCP)

  • 2+ years of experience working with oAuth2.0 and other Security essentials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skilled in IBM API C, IBM ACE, DataPower, CloudPak, Azure, Google Cloud

  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies (Azure, GCP), engineering frameworks and tools

  • Infrastructure knowledge and expertise (F5, DataPower, Firewalls, Certs)

  • Health insurance industry experience with deep understanding of health care value chain

  • Experience delivering in Agile, SAFE, Kanban, and Lean practices.

  • Exposure to DevSecOps processes

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience is required

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$83,430.00 - $201,900.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
