Job/Position DescriptionUnder the management of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) Chief of Policy and Performance, the Project Manager performs complex project management work, along with research, analysis, consultation, and technical work related to the development and implementation of Office of Inspector General (OIG) systems projects and initiatives. Work involves coordinating the planning, initiation, and completion of projects and project deliverables throughout the project lifecycle; monitoring the progress and schedule of projects; and communicating with project stakeholders, management, and other relevant parties. Will plan, assign, and/or provide guidance to others during the project lifecycle. Works under general supervision, with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position is currently eligible for telework, with exceptions for occasional in-office meetings.Essential Job FunctionsEJF 1: Project Planning and Initiation. (25%) Uses professional project management tools and methodologies to defines the scope of a project in collaboration with senior management, including goals and objectives; creates detailed work plans which identify and sequence the activities needed to successfully complete the project; determines the resources (time, staff, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project; develops a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities; reviews project schedules, timelines and milestones with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revises the schedule as required; and determines the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion. EJF 2 Project Implementation and Monitoring. (25%) Maintains overall project management responsibility for execution of projects according to the project plan; develops project work products, forms, and records necessary to implement project activities; prepares periodic written and verbal project status/performance reports; coordinates and facilitates regular project meetings with stakeholders; sets up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured; maintains project tracking and reporting systems to monitor the progress of the project and makes adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project; and establishes a communication schedule to update internal and external stakeholders on the progress of the project. Drafts, edits, and/or reviews project work products to ensure the quality of the work completed meets professional standards and project expectations. Identifies and resolves challenges and barriers related to achieving project goals and objectives. May work on multiple projects simultaneously.EJF 3 Project Completion and Closeout. (10%) Ensures all final project assignments and tasks are completed and finalized; prepares final project status/performance reports including final updates to the project schedule and project plans; prepares and conducts an evaluation of the overall project execution to highlight project success and/or learn from the experience on the project; and ensures all project documentation is organized, updated and appropriately archived for future reference.EJF 4 Systems Research and Analysis.
