TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION PeopleSoft Software Engineer (Telework) in Austin, Texas

This position is based at 1411 Brazos St, Austin, Texas, but is eligible for telecommuting from anywhere in the State of Texas.

WHO YOU ARE: Seeking an IT professional to provide automated systems development work in support of Application Solutions software systems. Use a consultative, positive, solution-focused mentality with a proactive and can-do attitude. Communicate in a professional, customer-focused manner. Collaborate with other IT teams to accomplish work.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: The PeopleSoft Software Engineer (Programmer II) performs complex (journey-level) computer programming work. Work involves analyzing system specifications to develop software for computer applications; developing solution software; documenting methods and procedures used in software development; and testing, correcting and revising software. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Perform computer programming work in the PeopleSoft Human Resource Management System (HRMS), including software development activities during all phases of the system development lifecycle (SDLC): design, code, test, implement, and maintain. -Assist with development and maintenance of TWCs HRMS and its associated batch processes. -Assist with research and analysis required for system modifications and new projects. -Maintain a reliable, predictable work schedule, and/or be called upon to work outside of normal business hours to sustain operations or complete urgent assignments. -May work outside normal office hours/days when needed to resolve production issues. May provide on-call activities on a rotational basis. -Actively participates in maintaining and providing input to the departmental dashboard. -Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, policies, and procedures including IT Handbook and SOPs that govern TWC IT. -Contribute to teamwork and communicate effectively. -Promote an image of IT excellence. -Perform other duties as assigned.
YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: -Knowledge of or experience in design and develop software with PeopleSoft HRMS 9.1 or above, PeopleTools 8.5x or above, Application Engine, Component Interface, Unix, BI Publisher, Events, Integration Broker and Notifications, Fluid UI development and Structured Query Report Writer (SQR). -Knowledge of or experience using PeopleTools and PeopleCode. -Working knowledge of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), HyperText Markup Language, 5th Version (HTML5), JavaScript. -Working knowledge of Agile/Waterfall/ITIL/SDLC mythologies. -Knowledge of or experience with accessibility requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. -Ability to identify and pro-actively address problems/potential risks and implement timely solutions. -Ability to work collaboratively and foster positive working relationships. -Strong critical thinking skills and ability to diagnose and solve problems. -Ensure quality control of the code using unit testing and debugging software for accuracy, completeness and system integrity. -Continuously develop skills and expertise in present and emerging technologies through formal training and independent self-teaching and tutorials.
YOU QUALIFY WIT : -Two years of full-time experience in data processing, computer science, computer programming, systems analysis, and/or related field -Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
