HP Inc. Head of US Higher Education Strategy in Austin, Texas
As the Key Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Thought Leader for Higher Education (HiED), candidate will apply developed subject matter knowledge and expertise to support Product groups, Industry Solutions, Marketing and Sales teams to grow and develop acquisition business in the US HiED market. Deep and broad understanding of future and existing EDU STRATEGIC challenges and opportunities and HP's solutions, research, and emerging technologies to solve common and complex business issues within the US. Will require working with broad teams to solve problems of diverse complexity and scope. May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to decide on priorities. Ability to handle the most unique and sometimes challenging situations. Leverage diverse expertise and communication skills to provide needed guidance in each situation.
Responsibilities
Develop Strategic 'Thought Leadership' objectives and actions for the role and align to Business needs with US Sales leader
Provide HiED SME and thought leadership to support Marketing and participate and lead in strategic webinar, events, and materials development. Support and align projects to strategic objectives
Provide HiED SME and thought leadership for Sales organization on larger strategic opportunities, including RFP response/language, consultative conversations with Senior EDU leaders. Ex. Governance Boards, Presidents, Provosts, Deans, and CTO's
Provide US HiED SME to Category Product teams. Helping align needs of HiED clients with features and value needed from HP's products and services to support differentiation and strategic growth.
Provide US Hied SME and partnership with WW Education (Industry Solutions) team for programs, research, messaging needed to align with US goals and needs
Establishes a professional working relationship (up to the executive level) with key and strategic clients and develops a core understanding of the unique business needs based on their roles.
Engages internal HP and Channel partners effectively to improve relationships, provide expertise, and market guidance where needed
Builds growth opportunities with campus and institutional sales leaders as needed for account planning and growth opportunities
Align personal activities to strategic and acquisition business results to showcase ROI (Return of investment)
Acts as a first interface for acquisition business of both HP Direct and Channel teams, helping open doors through relationships in EdTech market and with EDU leaders.
Identifies new and future customer requirements, matches with HP capabilities and outline strengths, gaps needing filled and differentiation required
Regular collaborates with HP K12 and Federal personnel to align vision and support
Reviews and reports on activities and results with Senior Leadership
Education & Experience Required
University or Bachelor's degree with graduate degree preferred
Has deep knowledge of Higher Education Market
Extensive vertical industry knowledge and advanced understanding of technology utilization in administrative operations, instructional practice, or research within public sector
Typically, 5-8 years of EdTech business experience as referenced above
Preferred 3-8 years of in leadership experience inside Higher Education institution
Demonstratable Experience in utilization of Educational Technologies ex. Software and digital, curriculum, Instructional and compute technologies, Instructional services, etc.
Education and Experience Preferred
Budgeting experience for technology or services in Higher Education
Procurement experience for technology or services in Higher Education
Conducting or supporting specialized research within Higher Education through technology consideration, acquisition, and maintenance
Consulting or selling experience in EdTech market
Knowledge & Skills
Broad understanding of Higher Education market challenges and customer's needs to solve; recommend standard as well as creative solutions to meet those needs
Ability to coordinate internal and external partners to solve key solutions for client problems
Able to interface with senior levels in internal HP and external, client and partner groups
Knows when to adjust business plans based on new and future industry segment opportunities
Use persuasive and consultative skills to uncover and expose key needs of clients
Partner organization intelligence aligned with partner training and consultative communication
Conceptualizes and articulates well-targeted solutions
Ability to prioritize and drive strategic actions and pass tactical actions to ideal HP teams
Excellent communication and storytelling capabilities in virtual, recorded, and live environments; whether one on one or keynoting at large events
Ability to travel as needed for events and Strategic Client meetings

The base pay range for this role is $137,000 to $211,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
