Amazon Front End Engineer - Amazon Fulfillment Technologies, AFT Safety and Compliance (AFT S&C) in Austin, Texas

Amazon's Fulfillment Technologies is seeking enthusiastic and talented Front End Engineer to help innovate, architect, design and build highly available, scalable and real time applications. As world’s largest fulfillment operations handling group, we obsess for innovation in simplifying these operations. One of the most challenging aspects of day-to-day fulfillment center operations is improving FC associates experience by building better tools to handle their tasks and to overcome issue along the process.

We are looking for the candidates with strong obsession towards building a unified platform that enhances the users ability to bring engineering excellence to what engineers do. As a member of a growing team, you will get the opportunity to work on highly visible, innovative projects that directly impact thousands of associates working in Amazon fulfillment centers worldwide. You will be involved in all the aspects of the software development cycle with focus on web development including scoping, design, implementation, testing & delivery of your products well as setting the vision and future roadmap. You would be responsible for implementing technology solutions that can scale at the rapidly growing pace of our customer and partner community. You will help to shape product vision and quickly iterate on front-end interfaces and have a working knowledge of back-end data handling. You consider usability, accessibility, and performance in the products you build and work backward from the customer to anticipate their needs. You leverage your knowledge of the nuances, pitfalls and strengths of the various front-end development frameworks and associated best practices.

Key job responsibilities

As a Front End Engineer, you will:

  • Actively participate in overall product strategy and UI presentation.

  • Be involved in every aspect of the the UI of new features – from idea generation, exploring different design options, and technical design through software development using the latest technologies and design patterns.

  • Collaborate with Software Development Engineers, Product Managers, UX Designers to ensure the best experience for our customers.

  • Design highly functional and lovable UI. The software must be well tested and high quality.

  • The UI must be compliant with accessibility standards set at Amazon.

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.

AFT Safety and Compliance (AFT S&C) org owns products that identify, track, and mitigate EHS concerns for Amazon business lines and support 4700+ sites and 80K+ users and Supply Chain Compliance systems that enable the end-to-end execution of regulations for all compliance programs and waste management. Our vision is to empower Amazon businesses to define and implement regulatory and operational standards, measure compliance with those requirements, and quantify potential risks through our centralized and closed loop systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience

  • 3+ years of computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis) experience

  • Experience with object-oriented design

  • Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as angular and react

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of agile software development methodology experience

  • Experience with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and Node
