Apple's Austin Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team is seeking a skilled EHS generalist to join our team that supports the Apple Austin portfolio. Our organization is dedicated to protecting the environment, health, and safety of our employees, contractors, customers, and the global communities where we operate, while supporting our stakeholders in their mission to develop amazing products. The successful candidate will provide all aspects of EHS support to assigned buildings with a variety of workplace settings including but not limited to office spaces, research laboratories, warehouses, operation and maintenance shops, and kitchens and will report to the EHS site manager. The role requires a self-starter who can work independently, anticipate the needs of the team, and take initiative to seek out problems. The successful candidate should be inventive and skilled at multi-tasking. We are looking for an ambitious and highly organized individual who enjoys solving problems in creative ways and shines in a fast-paced environment.

Description

This position is responsible for providing EHS site support, which includes: Performing EHS inspections and assessments in a variety of workplace settings to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations and global standards Coordinating chemical inventories, emergency evacuation drills, new equipment and chemical reviews, and regulatory agency inspections and completing assigned compliance tasks in a timely manner Providing guidance and training to employees on EHS procedures and practices to promote a best-in-class EHS culture Conducting incident investigations and developing corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences Staying up to date on EHS regulations and best practices, and making recommendations for improvements to EHS procedures and programs Managing EHS documentation and record keeping, ensuring all necessary permits and reports are completed accurately and on time Acting as a point of contact for EHS related inquiries and concerns from employees and onsite contractors Coordinating and responding to onsite emergency response efforts Participating in the review of operations, processes, and procedures at the proposal/design phase and throughout implementation to control and reduce EHS hazards Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and implement EHS initiatives and improvements

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA or BS program in a relevant EHS discipline

  • 4+ years of EHS technical experience

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and TCEQ regulations and International Fire Code

  • Knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation methodologies

  • Experience in developing, maintaining and implementing written EHS programs and processes, tools, and materials

  • Experience providing laboratory and facilities EHS support

  • Nationally recognized professional credentials preferred (i.e., Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

  • Highly motivated and self-managing

  • Is proactive, assertive, and has a sense of urgency to problem solving

  • Ability to manage multiple high priority projects simultaneously

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to be on call and work off hours as needed, and is comfortable with acting as a first responder in emergency scenarios
