One Gas Director, Gas Supply (hybrid) in Austin, Texas

Role Summary : Reporting to the Managing Director of Gas Supply and based in Austin, TX, you will lead a team of 3 direct reports. This position involves some travel, primarily local and in-state. With over 10 years of experience in gas supply, contract negotiation, and review, you will bring formal leadership expertise to the role. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across the ONE Gas footprint, and regulators, as well as manage relationships with external upstream service providers.

What You Will Do

Manages and directs various gas supply and control functions to ensure accurate gas usage forecasting, available supplies of natural gas and transportation capacity, optimal revenues, and legal compliance.

Manage and direct employees engaged in activities including but not limited to:

  • Demand forecasting

  • Identification and acquisition of gas supplies

  • Hedging activities

  • Volume control and third party allocations

  • Cash flow and cost analysis

  • Scheduling and nomination of gas supply with pipelines

  • Contract administration

  • Gas supply accounting and bill payment

  • Gas control operations

  • Administration of wellhead supplies

  • Management of storage agreements

  • Negotiating gas supply and capacity sales

Compliance with state and federal regulation Identification of market opportunities for off-system sales

Define, develop, and implement gas acquisition strategy.

Review and approve expenditures related to gas acquisition. Identify and track volumes of gas hedged, communicate with agent purchasing financial instruments, and assist in decision-making process.

Oversee administration, acquisition, and negotiation of all gas supply, transportation and storage contracts on intrastate and interstate pipeline systems.

Identify and capitalize on market opportunities for selling of Released Capacity and As Available Gas. Monitor, review, and/or prepare information and reports including but not limited to:

  • Gas price report

  • Gas supply contracts

  • Request for proposals for supply, transportation, and storage

  • Responses to regulatory agencies and/or interveners

  • Hedging activity reports

  • Customer demand reports

  • Budget and demand forecasting Imbalance calculations

  • Status report on supply and transportation acquisition and sales

  • Educational material for regulatory agencies

Provide support to other departments with respect to issues concerning gas supply, including legislative and regulatory, contract litigation, and acquisition due diligence investigations.

Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

What You Will Need

Preferred Bachelor's Degree business administration, economics, mathematics, finance, other related field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and the following job related experience:

Experience in and thorough knowledge of gas supply and gas control activities.

Experience evaluating complex financial transactions and utilizing financial derivatives.

Experience with application of basic math and algebraic formulas.

Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software.

Experience reading and interpreting pricing reports, supply data, weather forecast, purchase, transportation, and storage contracts, pipeline and rate tariffs, market trends, Request for Proposals (RFP), state and federal orders and regulations, financial information, and company policies and procedures.

Experience researching and preparing correspondence, budgets, imbalance calculations, confirmation reports, allocation reports, hedging reports, company's response to regulatory requests, RFP documents, and educational material.

Experience interacting, advising, and communicating effectively.

Experience leading, directing, training, and/or supervising.

Experience preparing information, conducting meetings, and making presentations.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Minimum Applicable driver's license for travel to office locations

Mobility to travel in and around office surroundings.

Communicate and/or exchange information or instructions.

Visual abilities sufficient to perform job duties.
