Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

An Associates degree in culinary arts or a related field of study is preferred. Extensive knowledge of high-end culinary operations, to include menu development and wine selection (knowledge of spa cuisine a plus). The person must have a minimum of 3 years of culinary management experience in a role within a luxury hotel, restaurant, or resort.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Must possess fluent use of the English language.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with members of the media and relate the Miraval experience in an authentic and personal manner.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and operational procedures.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior leadership, managers and co-workers, clients, guests, staff and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to evaluate data from a variety of sources to establish trends, recognize patterns and realize opportunities.

  • Ability to think and reason strategically to establish goals and objectives on a regular basis.

  • Ability to assess, recommend and act to maintain company standards and meet organizational expectations.

  • Ability and sensitivity to customize and individualize responses to situations for each guest or staff member in alignment to the standards and values of Miraval Culinary and F&B Departments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and walk up and down stairs and walk intermittently for short distances.

  • Ability to lift, push and/or pull 50 pounds or more on a daily basis.

  • Ability to reach with arms and hands and bend at the waist when necessary.

  • Ability to use fine motor skills in manipulating knives in food preparation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually loud. Frequent exposure to fumes, odors, and gases. Occasional exposure to dusts, mists and poor ventilation. Constant exposure to potential mechanical, electrical, burns and radiant energy hazards. Frequent exposure to toxic, caustic chemical hazards.

Equipment Used in Job: Commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning agents

Essential Functions:

  • Provide a variety of lectures, workshops and classes for Miraval guests

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to confidently and effectively teach ideas and concepts to our guests in group, semi private, private and special events

  • Ability to observe and create a class culture that promotes learning and wellbeing.

· Ability to engage class participants.

· Stays abreast of emerging food trends in the industry and recommends how they can be integrated into the Miraval’s nutritional and programming criteria.

· Ability to create classes with thorough S.O.P.s that align with Miraval’s culinary food philosophy.

  • Maintain materials used in facilitation of programs

· Assists with marketing and public relations.

  • Manage changes and improvements to existing programs based on current research

  • Manage attendance numbers for facilitated classes and adapt to needs for large groups

  • Participate and assist in additional Miraval programs as needed

· Following the direction of the Executive Chef, the Program Chef coordinates and assists in the refinement of culinary programming policies, procedures, service protocols.

· Coordinates with Culinary Leadership and Sales and Events Team to create Culinary/Dining Experiences for larger groups

· Works with Culinary Leadership and Sales and Events Team to create meaningful and well organized programming for larger groups

  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to eliminate and prevent waste.

  • Familiarization with resort industry success measures and strategies for product positioning and brand management.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as business dictates.

· Maintains a neat, clean and orderly working spaces .

· To ensure the demonstration kitchen is prepared at all times to pass any rigorous health inspection including Ecosure and to personally be Servsafe Certified.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior leadership, managers and co-workers, clients, guests, staff and the general public.
